March Break 2018

Planning Ahead: March Break 2018 Activity Roundup

The Simcoe County District School Board March Break runs March 12th-16th this year. Chances are you’ve already been approached by your children’s daycare provider to see if you require care over the March Break. If you’re planning on taking some time off over March Break, you’re going to want to make some plans, avoiding the dreaded “I’m bored!” one day into the vacation.

That’s where we come in. My team and I have taken the liberty of pulling together a list of activities to keep you and your kiddos busy and active the whole week, so you can focus on enjoying quality time together as a family, or at least a hot cup of coffee.

Barrie March Break 2018 Roundup

Barrie has so much to offer families over the March Break. It was difficult to choose, but we’ve broken our list into three categories, day camps, indoor fun and outdoor fun with a few of our favourites in each.

Day Camps
Many parents opt for a themed day camp this time of year to add a touch of variety to their children’s schedule when they are unable to take time off of work. With the wide variety of themed day camps available in the Barrie area, there is something sure to spark your child’s interests.

Here are just a few suggestions:

Indoor Fun
As much as we all hope for beautiful winter weather to spend some much needed time outdoors in the fresh air, it doesn’t always happen, so a contingency plan is a must!

Play Places

Outdoor Fun
Barrie and the surrounding areas have lots of fun outdoor activities to explore. Here are a few of our favourites:

Tubing: snow tubing has gained in popularity over the years and it’s not hard to see why. This one is fun for child and parents alike.

Scenic Caves: enjoy the natural beauty of Scenic Caves, located in Collingwood.

Skating: take advantage of public skating at one of the many rinks available in the city of Barrie. Pair it with a hot chocolate at one of the local coffee shops to warm up afterwards.

Skiing/Snowboarding: hit the slopes of Snow Valley Resort this March Break with family and friends. Or hit the road and enjoy the slopes of Blue Mountain in picturesque Collingwood.
