Smelling Memories
Smelling Memories?
Have you
ever caught a whiff of something and right away a memory (good or bad) pops
into your mind? I certainly have and it
makes complete sense as smell is indeed one of our senses.
Our
everyday smells bring us comfort and routine.
There is after all, no place like home.
As seasons
change, so do smells! Our neighbours
have a wood fuel heater and it smell amazing as the cool weather arrives. Fall leaves and the crisp air I must mention. Pumpkin spice seems to take over! Thanksgiving turkey and all the fixings…yum!
Summertime
bonfires, roasting marshmallows, BBQ meals and sun-kissed skin. Spring thaw of cool mud and beautiful
blooms. Winter brings hot chocolate,
comfort foods to heat the house and warm our souls.
‘While sounds,
pictures and touch can bring back memories of our childhood and youth,
scientists have found that only the sense of smell can vividly and intensely
bring back those memories.’ - Dr. Phil
Kronk
I think it
is amazing and it makes complete sense also why aromatherapy exists. I am going to just list my top ten nostalgic
